Warriorettes Take Lead Late, Hold On In Win Over McMinn Co

The White County Warriorettes only held a lead in their Region Tournament win over McMinn for the final 40.2 seconds, and it proved to be the only lead they needed in a 57-56 win.

McMinn locked down the perimeter in the first half, as they held White County without a single made three-pointer. This, combined with their execution on offense, led them to a 24-16 lead at the break.

White County picked up the pace in the third quarter, as they cut the lead down to three at 36-33 at one point, but McMinn answered with a 9-2 run to push the lead to 45-35 early in the third quarter.

This didn’t phase White County however, and after Kendreah Reeves hit a three to tie the game with 1:26 on the clock, Gracie Dodgen nailed a three with 40.2 seconds remaining to give the Warriorettes a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Dodgen led all with 18 points, while Reeves added 12 of her own. Alaina Stiles contributed 10 points in the win.

White County will host Stone Memorial on Monday for the second round of the Region Tournament.
