Pioneer Basketball Wins Tight Battle Over The King’s Academy

The Warren County Pioneers are headed to the Championship game of the Sonic Shootout, as they defeat The King’s Academy on Friday by a final score of 60-58.

The game remained tight throughout its duration, and although Warren built a nine-point lead in the second, TKA cut it down to 28-26 at halftime.

The Pioneers held TKA at bay throughout the third, and by the time the fourth quarter rolled around, Warren held a slim 43-40 lead.

The King’s Academy got several good looks at the rim late in the game, but a game-winning three fell just short at the buzzer and the Pioneers walked away with a 60-58 win.

C.J. Taylor led the way for Warren County, as he tied for the game-high with 17 points. Irving Espinoza added 11.

Zack Tilley scored 17 for The King’s Academy, while Nemanja Kovacevic contributed 15.

Warren County will play White County on Saturday.
