Van Buren Volleyball Wins Region Tournament Over Meigs

The Van Buren Eaglettes will continue their roll into the Substate portion of the postseason, as they defeated Meigs County on Tuesday by a final score of 3-0.

After opening up a 10-1 lead in the first set, Meigs battled back to cut the lead down to three at one point. They wouldn’t make the comeback however, as the Eaglettes closed out the first set by a count of 25-18.

The second set was a back-and-forth battle that saw neither team pull away. After falling behind 20-18, the Eaglettes rallied following a timeout and finished the set on a 7-2 run for a 25-22 win.

The final set again saw Van Buren jump out to an early lead and they never relinquished it, as they won the Regional Tournament Championship by a final score of 3-0.

Senior Gabrianna Young, Juniors Jadeah McCurry and Emma Scoggins and Freshman Greta Rigsby were all named to the Regional All-Tournament Team, while Sophomore Riley Scoggins was named the Tournament MVP.
