In September of 2021, Grant Hoover – a senior football player at Monterey High School – found out he was selected as a Blue-Grey All-American. He would be participating in a three day experience that inlcudes two days of practice, finishing with a game as the culmination of the event. Every year, the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl fields dozens of future college and professional players, the ranks of which Hoover joined on January 31st, 2022.

The Blue-Grey Bowl is an annual event that brings together the nation’s best high school football seniors. They are given knowledge & coaching from legendary players & coaches, as well as national media exposure. Hoover and the other All-Americans arrived to Tampa Bay on January 29th. They wasted no time, hitting the practice field for four hours. Day 2 was another four hour practice, followed by a jersey presentation ceremony. The weekend led up to gameday in Raymond James Stadium – home of the Tampa Bay Bucaneers.

Following Hoover’s return to Tennessee, UCSN caught up with Grant to ask about his experience. In this UCSN Feature, hear about what it’s like to play amongst the nation’s best players, what the honor means to him, and more.
