Tuesday Night Boys Hoops Recap: York Defeats LA In Overtime

York Institute 73, Livingston Academy 72 (OT)

The York Dragons held off a 29-point effort from Matthew Sells to take down Livingston Academy in overtime on Tuesday.

Trailing 63-61, Nathan Carwile knocked down a shot to tie the game and force the extra period, but it was the Dragons who outscored the Wildcats by a 10-9 count to take home the win.

Riley Cooper led the Dragons with 25 points, while Nic Smith added 19 points. Jon Heddings scored 12 points, and Bryson Bilbrey added 11.

In his effort for the Wildcats, Sells broke the program’s all-time scoring record with 2,509 points for his career with two free throws in the third quarter.

York will be at Watertown on Thursday, while Livingston will host Cannon County.

Jackson County 64, Mt. Pleasant 40

The Blue Devils rebounded nicely from their tough loss to Trousdale on Monday by taking down Mt. Pleasant by a final score of 64-40.

Ramon Cuevas led all scorers with 25 points, and Jordon Arroyo added 13. Chris Pigg scored 10 points of his own.

The Blue Devils will be back in action on Thursday when they head to Cascade.

Upperman 67, Cannon County 35

The Bees shut down the Cannon County offense on Tuesday, as they took home a 67-35 win.

Collin Gore continued his excellent play in district games of late with a game-high 17 points, and A.J. Nash and Jace McWilliams each added 12 points. Alex Rush added a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Bees will take on Macon County on the road on Thursday.

White County 84, Rhea County 44

The Warriors of White County earned their fifth district win of the season on Tuesday with their 84-44 decision over Rhea County.

Grant Slatten scored a game-high 33 points, while Tanner Paul put together a 15-point, 11-rebound double-double in the win. Jake Davis also scored 12 points in the victory.

The Warriors have a big district matchup on Friday, as they close the regular season with a matchup against Stone Memorial at home.
