Tuesday Night Boys Hoops Recap: Panthers Lock Down Rhea For Win

Stone Memorial 60, Rhea County 40

The Stone Memorial Panthers locked down Rhea County for only four points in the third quarter of a 60-40 win to open district play.

Leading by seven, that third frame allowed the Panthers to take a 15-point lead into the fourth and that was the closest it got from there.

Dylan Whittenburg led the way with 12 points, while Chris Coudriet followed close behind with 11. Will Hecker added 10 points.

The Panthers will face another district foe in Warren County on Friday.

White County 64, Warren County 53

It was a battle of two of the best in the Upper Cumberland, but it was the White County Warriors who earned a 64-53 win over the Warren County Pioneers on Tuesday.

Grant Slatten led all scorers with 38 points, and he was the only Warrior to finish in double figures.

C.J. Taylor led the Pioneers with 26 points.

Warren County takes on Stone Memorial on Friday, while White County will host Cookeville.

Clay County 55, Red Boiling Springs 23

The Bulldogs held RBS to just three first-quarter points en route to a 55-23 victory.

Clay County also held them to the same amount in the fourth quarter to close the game.

Grant Strong led all scorers with 20 points.

Clay County will take on Gordonsville on Friday.

Upperman 77, DeKalb County 41

The Bees used double-digit advantages in the second and third quarters to take home a 77-41 win over DeKalb County.

Collin Gore led the way with 17 points, while Jace McWilliams added 16. Alex Rush scored 15 points, and Jaxon Fox contribute 10 points of his own.

The Bees outscored DeKalb County 47-25 over the middle frames to take full control of the game.

Evan Jones led the Tigers with 10 points.

DeKalb County will face Macon County on Friday, while Upperman will take on Cannon County.

Trousdale County 68, Monterey 65 (OT)

The Monterey Wildcats took Trousdale County to their limits, but fell just short in overtime by a final score of 68-65.

Cayden Jones played his best game of the season with a game-high 29 points. Silas Randolph added 14 points, and Tucker Phillips scored 12.

Trousdale outscored Monterey 18-15 in the extra period.

The Wildcats will play Friday night at Pickett County.

York Institute 64, Macon County 55

The Dragons fell behind early, but took control by outscoring Macon County 15-4 in the third quarter to earn the nine-point victory.

Jon Heddings led York with 21 points, while Bryson Bilbrey added 15 points. Nic Smith scored 14 points.

The Dragons fell behind by nine points after the first, but cut into that with a 21-17 advantage in the second frame before their third quarter outburst.
