TSSAA Votes To Delay Decision On Basketball Championships

Executive Director ,of the Board of Control, of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association Bernard Childress suggested that the state continue to delay the basketball championships.

There could be a possibility of the tournament to resume after May the 11th. Childress stated that they could finish the girls tournament on a Monday and Tuesday of a week and star and finish the boys tournament on the Wednesday through Saturday.

Childress remained steadfast in his comments about not giving up on these championship games for the sake of the student athletes. “I want all of our student athletes to know we are not giving up,” Childress said. “We are going to explore every avenue possible to find a way to get these games played.”

There are seven basketball teams across UC Sports Nation that are still alive in the basketball tournaments. Clarkrange, Upperman, and Stone Memorial have all advanced to the semifinals of the Class 1A, 2A, and 3A girls basketball championships respectively.

The boys tournament has yet to start but Clay County, Monterey, Upperman, and York  have earned their way to the state championship.
