TSSAA Releases New Classification Details For 2021-23 Cycle

The TSSAA announced their new classification set-up for the 2021-23 cycle on Thursday.

Here’s how the following Upper Cumberland Teams were affected:

Cookeville: The Cavaliers Football team will remain a 6A team, as no classes were added to football. The biggest change comes in basketball, baseball and softball, where they will make the jump into the new 4A category.

Upperman: The Upperman Bees will make the jump to Class 4A in football, while basketball, baseball and softball will also jump up one class to 3A.

Monterey: Wildcat football will be moved up to 2A, as will basketball, baseball and softball.

Jackson County: The Blue Devils will join Monterey in making the jump to 2A across all four of those sports.

Livingston Academy: The Wildcats will remain in 4A for football, but will jump to 3A in basketball, baseball and softball.

White County: The Warriors will see the biggest jump, as they go from unclassified in football to 5A. Basketball, baseball and softball will remain in 3A.

Clarkrange: The Buffaloes will remain in 1A for basketball, baseball and softball.

York Institute: The Dragons football team will drop down to 2A, while remaining 2A in basketball, baseball and softball.

Pickett County: The Bobcats will remain 1A across the board.

Clay County: Like Pickett County, the Bulldogs of Clay County will also see no change in this classification cycle.

DeKalb County: The Tigers football will remain in 4A, while the basketball, baseball and softball teams will all move up a class to 3A.

Van Buren County: The Eagles will stay in 1A for basketball, baseball and softball.

Warren County: The Pioneers, like Cookeville’s football team, will see no change and remain in 6A. The Pioneers will move into the new 4A class in basketball, baseball and softball.

Stone Memorial: No changes across the board for the Panthers. Football will remain in 4A, and basketball, baseball and softball will stand pat at 3A.

Cumberland County: The Jets football team will stay in 4A, while basketball, baseball and softball all move up to 3A.
