TSSAA Provides Update For Basketball State Tournament Sites
The high school basketball championships in Tennessee normally take place in Murfreesboro at Middle Tennessee State University, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, that will not be the case this year.
Instead, the proposal is for different Rutherford County Schools to host the different classifications. The sites would be at Rockvale, Siegel and Stewarts Creek, with potential for a fourth site to be added for the Division II semifinals.
This comes after TSSAA Executive Director tried to get a commitment from either MTSU or Lipscomb University, and ultimately it was unsuccessful.
“(MTSU) can’t give us a commitment right now if they would allow us to hold their events,” Childress said. “I think their answer would be no.”
The dates for the tournament remain the same as listed on the TSSAA Calendar.
The TSSAA is still working to finalize this, and this story will be updated as more information is released.
