Top Seeded Eagles Route Hardy Memorial

Van Buren County’s boys basketball cruised to a 73 to 36 victory over Hardy Memorial in their district semi final game Friday night in South Pittsburgh.

The Eagles held a 14 to 13 lead after the first quarter of play. However over the next two quarters Van Buren County would outscore Hardy Memorial 51 to 16 that led to the blowout.

Austin Hodges scored a game high 16 points for Van Buren County. Hodges knocked down five, three pointers on the night. Jacob Guy followed Hodges closely with 15 points. John Allen was the lase Van Buren to crack double digits with 10 points.

In total 11 Eagles scored at least one point in Friday nights matchup. Van Buren County did not shoot well from the free throw line as as they only hit four of their 11 tries. However, Van Buren County did knock down seven shots from behind the three point line on the night.

Van Buren County will play in the district championship tomorrow night at 7:30 in South Pittsburg against South Pittsburg.
