Dekalb County

Tigers Coach Steve Trapp Glad for DeKalb/Warren Make-Up Game

For over 35 years, DeKalb County and Warren County did not meet on the football field in a regular season game, even though the two counties share a border and had regularly played each other across the board in virtually every other sport. That changed in 2005, when the two schools agreed to the first of many two-year contracts to play a home and home in football.

On August 20, the now 16-year continuous border battle seemed to be in jeopardy for the 2021 season, when Warren County was unable to open the season due to Covid-19 concerns, and their traditional opener against the Tigers had to be postponed. Fortunately for fans of both schools, October 8 happened to be the bye week for both teams, offering the opportunity to work the game in to what is typically a busy Region stretch run at this point in the season.

DCHS Coach Steve Trapp, who was in his first year with the Tigers when the series rekindled in 2005, spent a few minutes with UC Sports Nation to preview Friday’s game and to talk about the importance of the series between the two schools.
