Tiger’s Chew Tied For 2nd After First Round At State

DeKalb senior golfer Anna Chew is tied for second place overall amongst all the girls competitors after the first round of the State Tournament at Willowbrook.

For the round, Chew shot a 1-over 73 and according to her coach, she did so in one of the more competitive groups in the field.

“She was excited about the group, maybe a little nervous, but she played great,” Head Coach John Pryor said. “She was right with them, and she had five birdies on the day.”

Chew finished the front nine strong, as she birdied two of the final three holes to put her in a good spot heading into the back nine. Her strong overall day should also give her a good deal of confidence heading into day two.

“She no longer questions whether she belongs,” Pryor said. “I told her this morning, ‘You’re awesome now go show everybody else how awesome you are…’ She played great and she ought to be raring to go in the morning.”
