Thursday Night Boys Hoops Recap: Van Buren Dominates Oakdale
Van Buren 62, Oakdale 37
The Van Buren Eagles overcame a slow start on Thursday and once they took the lead, they didn’t relinquish it in a 62-37 win over Oakdale.
After trailing 15-11 at the end of the first quarter, the Eagles outscored Oakdale 51-22 over the final three quarters to take home the victory. Jason Stevens led all scorers with 13 points, while Garen Lewis scored 10 points.
Van Buren’s next game will be on Saturday when they play at Red Boiling Springs.
Independence 49, Livingston Academy 46
The Livingston Academy Wildcats lost a back-and-forth battle against Independence on Thursday by a final score of 49-46.
The Wildcats held a 39-36 lead at the end of the third quarter, but couldn’t sustain enough offense in the final frame to fall by a single possession. Matthew Sells led all scorers with 18 points.
Livingston Academy will be back in action on Saturday when they take on Cumberland County.
