Thursday Night Around UC Sports Nation: Bees Wreak Havoc in District 7-3A

Nothing has been a given in District 7-3A this season. On any given night, any team can beat any other, and the Upperman Bees proved that yet again on Thursday night.

Rex Davis scored 18 points and AJ Nash added 17, as Upperman (13-10, 6-5 District) toppled first place Stone Memorial, 66-57, in Crossville. The loss cost the Panthers (16-9, 8-3) a chance wrap up the Regular Season District Championship. The Panthers can still win the title with a win over Livingston Academy, Friday night, but a loss could open the door for Cumberland County to win the district. Cumberland County and White County will play both Friday and Saturday nights. Two wins for the Jets and a Panther loss would clinch the district for Cumberland County. Stone Memorial owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over both the Jets and Warriors, who could also potentially tie for first in the final standings.

Upperman, meanwhile, sits in fifth place in the district standings, but could still move up as high as third with a win over DeKalb County on Friday and some help.

The Upperman Lady Bees (21-5, 7-4) made it a clean sweep on the night with a 63-21 blowout of the Lady Panthers (8-17, 3-8), as Miss Basketball finalist Brooklyn Crouch scored 18 points. Currently sitting in fourth place, Upperman could still finish in third should they finish tied with or ahead of Cumberland County in the final standings.
