Third Quarter Propels Dragonettes To Region Tournament

The York Institute Dragonettes punched their ticket to the Region Tournament on Wednesday with their 48-39 win over Watertown.

Trailing 14-7 in the second quarter, York finished the frame on a 10-2 run to take a 17-16 lead into half thanks to a buzzer-beater from Sage Smith.

The third quarter saw the Dragonettes take control of the game, as they out-scored Watertown 15-5 to increase the lead to double-digits. While Watertown battled until the very end, York held on for the nine-point victory.

Haylee Johnson led the way with 14 points, while Gabby Beaty added 13.

The Dragonettes will take on Upperman on Friday in the semifinals of the District 8AA Tournament.
