Taylor’s Buzzer Beater Lifts Pioneers Over White Co

The Warren County Pioneers knocked off the top seeded White County Warriors 78 to 76, Tuesday night, in the District Six, 3A championship game Tuesday night in Sparta.

Warren County’s CJ Taylor scored a game high 32 points and none two were bigger that the final bucket he scored as time expired.

White County’s Tucker Nash hit a lay up to tie the game at 76. Nash was fouled in the process. A made free throw would put the Warriors up one point with around five seconds to play.

Nash missed the free throw and the Pioneers got the ball in the hands of Taylor, their best player. Taylor pushed the ball just behind the free throw line for a pull up jump shot as time expired. The shot ripped the net as the Pioneers stormed the court.

The Pioneers hit 12 shots from behind the three point line. Irving Espinoza connected on six, three pointers on his way to 20 points. Lacedric Cox finished with 11 points of his own.

Grant Slatten led White County in points with 21. Kade Clark and Maysn Winningham both dropped in 18 points. Kegan Dodson scored 15 to round out the double digit scorers for White County.

With the win Warren County will now host the fourth seeded team from District 5, 3A Saturday night in McMinnville.

The Warriors will now host the third seeded team from District Five, 3A Saturday night in Sparta as well.
