Strong, Ashlock lead Bulldogs Over Southwestern

The Clay County Bulldogs defeated Southwestern on Sunday by a final score of 60-57.

Leading 10-9 after the first quarter, the Bulldogs found some sustainable offense in the second quarter and out-scored Southwestern 17-14 to take a 27-23 lead into half.

Southwestern won the third quarter 14-13, and after the teams tied the final frame at 20 points apiece, Clay walked away with a 60-57 win.

Senior Jake Ashlock led the way with 25 points and eight rebounds, while Grant Strong scored 21 points of his own.

Clay’s next game will be on Jan. 2 when they take part in the Sergeant York Christmas Invitational.
