Stone Steel Competitive Cup Released Later Today

UCSportsNation.Com and Stone Steel will recognize the most outstanding high school sports program in the Upper Cumberland with the awarding of the Stone Steel Cup.

The cup honors the Upper Cumberland school for team achievements, individual excellence, and a commitment to sportsmanship. Points will be awarded to each school during the Fall, Winter and Spring sports seasons. The school with the most points will be awarded the Stone Steel Cup.

It’s presented by Stone Steel. With origins back to 1978 as a hometown welding and fabrication shop, Stone Steel LLC  specializes in complete Division 5 steel packages and excels in the opportunity to follow a project from the anchor bolts to the final ornamental handrail.

Teams will be able to earn points for team district and region victories throughout the regular and post seasons, trips to the state tournaments, along with points for individual and team honors for All-District, All-Region, All-State, and other individual post season honors.

To make the point system we took the sports that a majority of schools across UC Sports Nation play. Those sports are: football, golf, cross country, volleyball, girls soccer, boy and girls basketball, baseball, softball, track and field, boys soccer, and boys and girls tennis.

Schools that have student athletes who co op with other schools will  receive points for those student athletes at their school who co op.

Stone Steel Cup Criteria

Team Accomplishments

1. District/Region Regular season win = 1 point
2. Any post season victory = 2 points
3. District Championship = 4 points
4. Region Championship = 5 points
5. State Championship = 10 points

Team Accomplishments in non-win/loss sports (i.e. Cross Country/Golf)

Based upon the number of teams in the event. Example will be given based off of a five-team format.

1. First Place = 5 points
2. Second Place = 4 points
3. Third Place = 3 points
4. Fourth Place = 2 points
5. Fifth Place = 1 point

Individual Accomplishments

1. All District = 1 point
2. All Region = 2 points
3. All State = 3 points
4. Coach Recognition = 1 point
