Stone Memorial Downs The Jets At Home

The Stone Memorial Panthers (2-6) earned their second win of the season in their 49-6 over the Cumberland County Jets (0-8) in Crossville.

The Panthers struck first in the first quarter when Zach Street took the ball in from three-yards out for a 8-0 led. After runs from Bryant Carter and Nick Coble made it it 23-0 in favor of the Panthers, Street added his second touchdown run of the game to push the lead to 29-0.

Carter closed the first half with his second touchdown run, this one from only one-yard out, and the Panthers led the Jets 35-0 at halftime.

Carter earned his third touchdown of the game when he ran in a one-yard score to push the lead to 42-0, and he threw his only touchdown pass when he found Jamell Grayer in the endzone to push the lead to 49-0.

The Jets’ only score of the game came when Braden Tollett threw a 10-yard pass to Ronald Martin, but it wasn’t enough as the Panthers went on to win 49-6.

For the game, Carter finished 12-15 passing for 158 yards and one touchdown, and he added 10 carries for 69 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Martin recorded the only score for Cumberland County, and he was also the leading rusher with 41 yards.

The Jets will host Bledsoe County next week, while the Panthers will travel to Carthage to take on Smith County.
