Slatten’s 39, Stout Defense Sends Warriors To Win Over Coffee Co
A day after scoring 34 and leading the White County Warriors to an overtime win over Monterey, Junior Grant Slatten scored 39 points on Friday to lead his team to a 71-55 win over Coffee County.
After Coffee County took a 14-10 lead at the end of one, White County’s defense locked in and held the visitors to a mere eight points in the second quarter.
That, combined with 24 points of their own, led the Warriors to a 33-22 lead at halftime.
The third quarter showed more success for White County, as they out-scored Coffee 24-3 to take a 57-25 lead into the final frame.
Coffee began to have more success in the fourth, but it was too late and White County walked away with a 71-55 win.
Slatten led all scorers with his 39, while Masyn Winningham added 11 points.
White County will take the court again on Dec. 9 at Walker Valley.
