Slatten’s 28, Winningham’s late three leads White Co Over Panthers

The White County Warriors defeated the Stone Memorial Panthers on Friday by a final score of 59-58.

The Warriors trailed 32-23 at half, and cut the lead down to three on multiple occasions in the second act, but it seemed like the Panthers wouldn’t relinquish the lead.

Trailing 58-56 with less than 20 seconds remaining, Grant Slatten split a double-team and found Masyn Winningham in the corner for the go-ahead three-pointer with 11.3 seconds remaining on the clock. The Panthers had a final shot to win the game, but a floater rimmed out and the Warriors held on for the one-point victory.

Slatten led all scorers with 28 points, while Winningham added 13 points of his own.

Zach Street scored 16 for Stone Memorial, and Zach Boyd scored 11 points. Will Hecker scored 10 points of his own.

The Warriors and Panthers will await their District Tournament matchups.
