Slatten, Winningham Lead Warriors Over Cavs

The White County Warriors and Cookeville Cavaliers reignited their long rivalry with a match-up in Cookeville, a game White County won 82-72.

The Warriors took a 34-29 lead into half, as shots from Cookeville’s Zach Hall and Bailey Gilliam kept the Cavs within striking distance.

The third quarter is where White County took over, as they out-scored Cookeville 22-11 to take a 56-40 lead into the fourth.

The Cavs fought tooth-and-nail the entire fourth, but it wouldn’t be enough as White County  took home the 82-72 win.

Grant Slatten led White County with 23 points, while Masyn Winningham added 21 points. Kade Clark added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double, while Kegan Dodson scored 12 points.

Hall led Cookeville with 16 points, and Gilliam scored 15.

White County’s next game will be Monday against Siegel, while Cookeville plays at Stone Memorial on Tuesday.
