Saturday Girls Hoops Recap: Clarkrange Picks Up 2 Wins Over LA, Cookeville

Clarkrange 78, Livingston Academy 66

The Clarkrange Lady Buffaloes picked up two double-digit victories over Cookeville and Livingston Academy on Saturday.

Kaylie Monday led the way in game one against the Lady Cats with 22 points, and Kassie Monday added 18 points. Addie Stowers scored 13 points of her own, while Lexi Pierce scored 12.

Aleah Melton led LA with 14 points, while Keaton Webb scored 13. Hailey Cronk added 11 points.

Livingston’s next contest will be on Dec. 1 against Pickett County.

Clarkrange 74, Cookeville 56

It was Kassie Monday who led the way in the second game, as she scored 22 points. Kaylie trailed close behind with 21 points, and  Chloe Howard scored 16 points.

On the Lady Cavs’ side, Cassie Gallagher led all scorers with 25 points with four three-pointers, while K.K. Graves scored 10 points.

Clarkrange will be back in action against Oneida on Monday, while Cookeville will host York Institute on Tuesday.

Livingston Academy 55, Cumberland County 48

Cookeville 49, Cumberland County 32

The Lady Cavs won their first game of the day against Cumberland County by a final score of 49-32.

Jordan Gillies led the way with 14 points, while Cassie Gallagher scored 10 points.

Liv Shipman scored eight points in the victory.

Upperman 65, Brentwood 40

Torie Brooks shot the lights out in Nashville, and led the Lady Bees to a 65-40 win over Brentwood.

Brooks nailed seven three-pointers en route to scoring a game-high 25 points. Reagan Hurst added 12 points and nine rebounds, while Aiyana Levy scored 12 points.

Upperman’s next contest will be on Tuesday at The King’s Academy.

York Institute 58, Middle Tennessee Christian School 42

The Dragonettes used an 18-7 advantage in the second quarter to help build a lead, and they maintained over the final two frames in a 58-42 win over Middle Tennessee Christian School.

Haylee Johnson and Laci Patton each scored 16 points in the winning effort, while Gabby Beaty scored 10 points.

York’s defense was on full display in first quarter, when they held MTCS to just four points.

York Institute 52, Wilson Central 29

Johnson broke out in a big way in their second game, as she out-scored Wilson Central by herself with 30 points.

The York defense once again got off to a hot start, as they only allowed nine points in the first half to take a 27-9 lead into the break.

Beaty and Ellie Leffew each scored six points to assist Johnson in the effort.

The Dragonettes will hit the road to Cookeville to take on the Lady Cavs on Tuesday.

Clay County 72, Oneida 44

The Lady Bulldogs used a hot start on both ends of the floor to take control of their game against Oneida, and a 28-11 advantage in the third quarter secured a 72-44 win.

Katie Arms led all scorers with 16 points, while Briley Burchett scored 14 points. Rachel Copass added 12 points of her own.

Sunbright 57, Clay County 53

Clay got off to a hot start in their second game as well, but a cold stretch in the fourth led to a 57-53 loss to Sunbright.

Leading 43-37 at the end of three, the Lady Bulldogs were outscored 20-10 in the final frame to lead to the final score.

Burchett led the way in this one with 13 points, while Bella Ashlock scored eight points.

Clay’s next game will be on Tuesday against East Robertson.

Van Buren 48, Red Boiling Springs 33

The Eaglettes moved to 2-0 on the season with a 15-point win over Red Boiling Springs.

Emma Scoggins led the way for Van Buren, as she scored 14 points. Sister Riley Scoggins scored 10 points of her own, while Emily Allen scored eight points.

Van Buren will now begin a two-week period with no sports activities allowed; this period will end on Dec. 6.
