Saturday Boys Hoops Recap: Upperman Wins OT Thriller Over Clarksville NE

Upperman 49, Clarksville Northeast 47 (OT)

The Upperman Bees had to battle for their first win of the season on Saturday, but they got it done by a final score of 49-47 in overtime over Clarksville Northeast.

Alex Rush put together a monster game with 21 points, six rebounds and five blocks, while Isaiah Allen scored 15 points. Jace McWilliams added seven points, seven rebounds and seven assists.

The Bees will be back in action on Tuesday when they play at The King’s Academy.

Webb 76, Clay County 71

The third quarter proved to be the difference in Clay County’s 76-71 loss to Webb on Saturday.

Grant Strong led all scorers with 36 points, while Jimmy Burchett scored eight points.

The Bulldogs were outscored by a 28-17 margin in third quarter.

Clay County 87, Jellico 58

The offense got back on track in their second game, an 87-58 win over Jellico.

The Bulldogs scored at least 20 points in each quarter, and they were once again led by Grant Strong’s 34. Jeff Spivey added 20 points in the win.

Clay Co will take on East Robertson on Tuesday for their next game.

Pickett County 70, DeKalb County 40

The Pickett County Bobcats used 41 points between the second and third quarters to take home a 70-40 win over DeKalb County.

Zach Amonett scored 21 points and four assists, while Hunter Wattenbarger added 21 points of his own with three three-pointers.

John Parker Reagan added eight points in the win.

Warren County 58, Community 56

Head Coach Chris Sullens earned his 100th win as the Pioneers’ Head Coach with the team’s 58-56 win over Community on Saturday.

Dee Spates led all with 21 points, while Kaden Rutledge added 16 points. C.J. Taylor scored 11 points, including his 1,000th career point.

The Pioneers will play DeKalb County on Monday.

Jellico 80, Monterey 78

Monterey had five different players score in double figures, but it wasn’t enough in an 80-78 loss to Jellico.

LT Sullivan led the Wildcats with 20 points, while Cayden Jones scored 19 points. Silas Randolph scored 12 points, and Tucker Phillips and Chandler Bowden each added 10 points.

Scott County 83, Monterey 67

Jones put together a 28-point game to lead the Wildcats in game two, but it wasn’t enough in an 83-67 loss to Scott County.

Randolph and Sullivan each added solid performances, as Randolph scored 17 points. Sullivan added 16 of his own.

The offense got off to a slow start, as Scott County held a 31-13 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Monterey’s next contest will be against Sunbright on Tuesday.

Livingston Academy 71, Clarkrange 27

A hot start for the Wildcats led to a 71-27 win for Livingston Academy.

Nick Choate scored a game-high 22 points for LA, while Eli Melton and Isaac Story each scored seven points.

Evan Cantrell led Clarkrange with five points.

The first quarter set the tone for the Wildcats, as they outscored the Buffaloes 21-4 to take control of the game.

Cookeville 82, Clarkrange 34

Josh Heard led the Cavaliers with 17 points in an 82-34 win.

Colin Gilliam scored 15 points, while Colin Ayers added 13 points. Jack Clark scored 10 points of his own in the win.

Haden Smith led Clarkrange with 13 points.

Clarkrange will be back in action on Dec. 4 against Clay County, While Cookeville will host York Institute on Tuesday.

Livingston Academy 84, Cumberland County 79
