Region 3AAA Girls Schedule Released, Stone To Host East Hamilton

The Region 3AAA Tournament schedule has been released, as two UC Sports Nation teams will have home games after the way the District Tournament wrapped up.

The District 6AAA Champion Stone Memorial Lady Panthers will a number-one seed and will host East Hamilton on Friday. The Lady Hurricanes finished fourth overall in District 5AAA, as they were defeated by Bradley Central (75-33) in the district semifinals, and Cleveland (56-17) in the consolation game.

The runner-up Lady Cavs of Cookeville will also get a home game, as they will host third-place Cleveland. The Lady Blue Raiders come into the game with a 13-8 record and an 8-2 mark in 5AAA play, they earned that third-place finish with their win over East Hamilton. They were second in the district in the regular season, though they were upended by McMinn County in the district semifinals by a final score of 56-51.

Speaking of McMinn County, that is where the White County Warriorettes will be on Friday after they earned a third-place finish in the district tournament. The two teams met two times earlier in the season, with White County earning a 73-51 win on Dec. 14, and a 70-34 decision on Feb.6’s Senior Night game. These two also squared off last season in the region tournament, a game that White County won 57-56.

Finally, the Warren County Lady Pioneers play their first region tournament game since Feb. 23, 2018  when they head to Cleveland to take on Bradley Central. The Bearettes come into this game with a 23-1 overall record, the lone loss coming on Nov. 27 at Upperman. The last time these two teams played each other was the last time Warren County was in the region tournament, as Bradley Central came away with an 87-22 win.
