Quarantine & Answer: Cavs Boys Lacrosse Kurt Snider

Social Distancing is a phrase that will forever be apart of our vocabulary as we move forward. We are going to do a series of questions and answers with coaches across UC Sports Nation and how they cope with this unique time, not only in America but in the World.

Our next coach in the series is Cookeville’s boys lacrosse head coach Kurt Snider.

Question:

What does a typical day in quarantine look like for you?

Answer:

For me as a cartographer for the US Fish and Wildlife Service it’s a work from home situation. I’m sitting here at my kitchen table with my laptop getting my work done as best as I can.

Question:

Have you watched a good movie lately?

Answer:

I went straight to the Dirty Dozen. I found it on Netflix. It is a classic that I love to watch over and over.

Question:

Have you watched any good documentaries or TV shows?

Answer:

I watched a great documentary on Miles Davis the famous jazz trumpeter. It is one of my favorites as well.

Question:

Are you reading anything interesting right now?

Answer:

I am reading a book called The Why And How of Woodworking. which is a great step by step when that honey do job jar is getting full and you look at the weekend coming up.

Question:

Have you been able to do anything fun with you family over this down time?

Answer:

Actually, when the sun finally came out yesterday one of my daughters and one of my sons walked down to the pond across the street right next to a church and we fished for about two hours. It was a lot of fun.

Question:

What music are you listening to right now?

Answer:

Man, I’m very eclectic when it comes to my musical taste. I’m very much a jazz fan, so I listen to a lot of jazz. Reaching back to when I was a kid and in high school bands like Steely Dan as well and Grover Washington Jr.

Question:

How is your daily routine been changed by the quarantine?

Answer:

I am still a routine guy. So I am up at 5 A.M. every morning. Usually i report to work at 6:30 A.M. so I can coach in the afternoons. Here at home I am still getting up at 5 A.M. but my only different routine is I am wearing shorts and a t-shirt to work instead of dressier clothes.

Question:

What does your daily workout routine look like?

Answer:

My daughter, who lives in Charolette who is in for a couple of weeks, we did a yoga session yesterday that tore me up. Normally I am more of a Planet Fitness guy but since we can’t go there we did that yesterday. It was really good and I enjoyed it a lot.

Question:

Have you cooked anything interesting over the last few weeks?

Answer:

I do a lot of cooking at home. I’m more of a short order cook though. Things like spaghetti. I don’t think I’ve perfected anything yet.

Question:

What is the first thing or place you would like to go or do when this quarantine is over?

Answer:

To be honest with you, just hoping we can get back with the team and start playing some lacrosse. We had a zoom meeting yesterday about what the end of our season, or salvageable part of our season might look like. We are just continuing that hope. But that’s the first thing we are looking to do.
