Pioneers Take Down Rhea County, Earn First District Win

Warren County’s boys basketball stopped a four game losing streak with a 74 to 51 district win over Rhea County Tuesday night on the road.

The Pioneers took control of the game from the jump as they owned a 23 to 9 first quarter advantage. Warren County outscored Rhea County in every quarter except the third.

Aiden Cummings flirted with a 30 point outing as he led all scorers with 27 points for Warren County. Cummings hit 12 shots from the field. Cummings also hit three of his six free throws.

Irving Espionza broke out of his shooting slump as he tallied 15 points for the Pioneers. Espinoza knocked down four shouts from behind the three point line. CJ Taylor added 11 points as well for the road squad.

Warren County climbs one game back above .500 with an overall record of  11-10,  and a district record of 1-2. The Pioneers host Cookeville Friday night in McMinnville.
