Pickett Co Pulls Away From Buffaloes In Second Half

A strong second half performance pushed the Pickett County boys basketball team to a 69 to 45 road victory over Clarkrange in Fentress County.

Clarkrange held a 16 to 14 lead at the end of the first quarter only to see Pickett County battle back to take a 31 to 28 lead into halftime. The Bobcats pushed their three point halftime lead to 15 over the next two quarters as they outscored Clarkrange 38 to 26 in the second half.

Clarkrange buried 10, three points shots on the night and hit 10 of their 14 free throw attempts. Pickett County hit only six, threes but they knocked down 21 of 25 free throw shots on the night.

Pickett County’s Zach Amonett scored a game high 24 points. Luke Smith added 13 points and John Parker Regan added 11 points.

Keith whited led Clarkrange in points with 16 and Gatlyn LaRue added 14 points of his own.

Pickett County improves their overall record to 12-8,  and 4-5 in district play. The Bobcats host  Trousdale County Friday night in Byrdstown.

The Buffaloes see their record slip to 4-18, and 0-9 in district play with the loss. Clarkrange looks to get back in the win column again Jackson County at home this Friday.
