Panthers Compete In First OF Three Contest At Golden Eagle

The Stone memorial boys finished the day in the middle of the pack against 11 other boys golf teams, Monday afternoon, at the Golden Eagle Country Club in the Early Bird Tournament.

The Panthers finished with a four man score of 328. Cookeville won the tournament with a 289 and Cumberland County finished second with a 314.

Stone Memorial head golf coach Trent Stokes pointed out his team would play at the Golden Eagle two more times this season, with the final match being the district tournament.

“We want to make sure we learn from today,” Stokes said. “We needed to figure out where we want to be and where we don’t want to be and learn those lessons we need to learn. To get prepared for the district tournament that will be here at the end of the year. That will be when we want to play our best.”

Brady Brewer, Nolan Wyatt, and Billy Drainus all three turned in 81’s on the afternoon. Kaleb McCoy rounded out the top four with an 85.

The Panthers will play again next Monday at Rhea County.
