Cookeville Senior Stockton Owen finished the Decathlon portion of the Track and Field season last week with a second-place overall finish at the State Meet.

Owen finished first overall in the Triple Jump, Shot Put and Long Jump events, and finished second in the Discus and High Jump. All of this was good enough for a second-place finish on the podium.

For the week, Owen leads the First Bank First Team.

First Bank First Team

Mikaela Reagan (York Institute): Reagan finished in third-place overall at the State Pentathlon, with some of her highlights including a first-place finish in the Shot Put and a fourth-place finish in the Long Jump.

Reagan Hurst (Upperman): Hurst had seven hits and drove in six runs in the Lady Bees’ three games last week against Bledsoe County, Sequatchie County and Red Bank.

Patrick Cantrell (DeKalb County): Cantrell pitched an excellent game in the Region Semifinals against Sequatchie County, as he only allowed three unearned runs in 6.1 innings with five strikeouts.

Avery South (DeKalb County): South followed up Cantrell’s outing with an excellent one of his own against Watertown, where he only allowed a single unearned run over six innings of work.

Morgan Green (Upperman): In the Lady Bees’ comeback attempt against Sequatchie, Green had one of the biggest hits of the game with a three-run double that cut the deficit at the time down to 8-7.

Drew Davidson (Cumberland County): Davidson scored six total goals in wins over Anderson County and DeKalb County last week to lead the Jets to a Sectional Game.
