No Excuses: Coach Josh Heard Seeking Better Effort from Cavs

The Cookeville Cavaliers have started the 2021-22 high school basketball season with only three wins in their first eight games. A quick look at their tough, early-season schedule, presents a good argument for their struggles – the Cavs have faced Knoxville Webb, Pickett County, and nationally-ranked Knox Catholic, among others. Still, you won’t find Cavs head coach Josh Heard making any excuses in regards to his schedule.

After Cookeville’s 68-59 loss to York Institute on Tuesday night, Coach Heard was far more concerned with his team’s effort than with its schedule. Coach Heard spoke with UC Sports Nation this week about that, and a look ahead to Cookeville’s Friday night game at Stewarts Creek.
