Mr. Basketball Spotlight: York Institute’s Nic Smith

With the regular season for boys and girls basketball hitting the home stretch, we will be spotlighting different Mr. and Miss Basketball candidates around the Upper Cumberland.

Today, we take a look at York Institute Junior Nic Smith.

Smith has been a starter for three years at York Institute, excelling at both basketball and baseball along the way. He’s committed to Missouri to play baseball, but says that he often hopes to miss the first few weeks of the season because it means the basketball team is preparing for the region tournament or a substate game.

When asked what sets Smith apart, Head Coach Roy Whited says it’s his natural leadership.
