Monterey Basketball Tops Blue Devils On The Road

The Monterey Wildcats won their second game in two days, by way of a 84 to 59 win over Jackson County, Tuesday night in Gainesboro.

Monterey really put the game out of reach over the second and third quarters as the Wildcats outscored Jackson County 55 to 35.

Monterey hit seven shots from downtown and nine of their 10 free throw attempts. Jackson County also hit seven, three’s and finished 10 of 15 from the free throw line. The difference in the game, Monterey hit 27 other shots from the field and Jackson County only hit 14.

Jackson County’s Eli Burris did lead all scorers with 20 points. Jacob Hardy added 11 points and Romon Luvas added 10 points of his own.

Noah Saylors scored 19 points for the Wildcats. Saylors also pulled in six rebounds. Peyton West and Kevin Borjas each scored 15 points for Monterey. Borjas flirted with a double double as he grabbed nine rebounds. West accounted for almost half of Monterey’s 13 assist with six.

With the win Monterey improves to 20-4, 8-2  on the season. The Monterey Wildcats play this Friday night at Clarkrange.

The loss drops the Blue Devils to 8-13, 2-8. Jackson County travels Celina to take on Clay County this Friday night.
