Monday Night Hoops Recap: Jackson County Splits With Trousdale

The Lady Devils earned their fifth district win of the season on Monday in a 39-38 victory over Trousdale County at home.

Jackson County grabbed a four-point lead at halftime, and proceeded to outscore Trousdale 13-10 in the third quarter to build a seven-point advantage heading into the final frame. The visitors outscored the Lady Devils 13-7 in the fourth, but Jackson County held on for a one-point victory when the buzzer sounded.

Emma Chaffin led the way for Jackson County with nine points, and Lilly Chaffin added eight of her own.

Trousdale County 59, Jackson County 57

The boys game was also a close affair, as Trousdale won a two-point decision over the Blue Devils.

A close game throughout its entirety, Trousdale won the first three quarters by a total of four points to take a 40-36 lead into the fourth quarter.

Jackson County battled back with its best offensive quarter of the night with 21 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit and Trousdale moved into second-place all alone in the district with a 59-57 win.

Eli Burris and Jordan Arroyo each scored 14 points to lead the Blue Devils, while Ramon Cuevas scored 13 points of his own.

Alex Ford led all scorers with 18 points.

The Blue Devils and Lady Devils will both be back in action on Tuesday when they head to Mt. Pleasant.
