Monday Night Girls Hoops Recap: York Takes Down Upperman In OT

York Institute 40, Upperman 37 (OT)

The Dragonettes are moving on to the region championship game as they took down the Upperman Lady Bees in overtime on Monday by a final score of 40-37.

Trailing by three with mere seconds left, Haylee Johnson sank a half-court prayer to tie the game and force the extra period. There, the Dragonettes outscored Upperman 3-0 to seal the win.

Gabby Beaty led the way with 16 points for York, while Johnson scored eight points.

Reagan Hurst led Upperman with 10 points.

Clarkrange 62, Whitwell 42

The Lady Buffaloes will face the Clay County Lady Bulldogs in the region championship after defeating Whitwell on Monday night.

After taking a 20-15 lead into the second, Clarkrange expanded the lead with a 16-7 advantage in second quarter, giving them a 36-22 lead at half.

The lead grew to 46-31 at the end of the third, and the Lady Buffaloes closed out the win with a 16-11 advantage in the fourth.

Chloe Howard led all scorers with 23 points, while Kassie Monday scored 21.

Clay County 50, Van Buren 36

Speaking of the Lady Bulldogs, they won a battle in Spencer over Van Buren by a final score of 50-36.

The big difference proved to be the third quarter, where Clay outscored the Eaglettes by a 21-11 to take a 41-29 lead into the final frame. There, they outscored Van Buren 9-7 to close the game.

Katie Arms led all scorers with 19 points, while Briley Burchett added 16 points.

Emma Scoggins paced Van Buren with 15 points.

Stone Memorial 51, White County 44

The Lady Panthers battled through not having their starting point guard to earn a seven-point win and a berth in region championship game on Monday.

The turning point in the game came in the final four minutes. Tied at 36, the Lady Panthers reeled off nine unanswered points to take a 45-36 lead with less than a minute to go.

Tessa Miller led all scorers with 19 points, and Keaton Freitag scored 14.

Gracie Dodgen led White County with 16 points.

Bradley Central 50, Cookeville 49 (OT)

The Lady Cavs battled for over four quarters on Monday, but fell just short to Bradley Central by a final score of 50-49.

Cookeville owned a 33-25 lead at halftime, but a tough third quarter offensively led to a 38-36 deficit heading into the final quarter.

The Lady Cavs battled back to tie the game and force overtime, but were outscored 4-3 to fall just short.

KK Graves led the Lady Cavs with 15 points, with Cassie Gallagher following close behind with 14. Jordan Gillies scored 13 points.

Macon County 62, Cumberland County 49
