Middle Quarters Spell Defeat For York Against Panthers
The Stone Memorial Lady Panthers defeated the York Institute Dragonettes by a final score of 62-38.
After Stone took a 13-11 lead after one, the Panther defense locked down and held York to 15 total points in the second and third quarters combined.
This allowed the Panthers to take a commanding 51-26 lead into the final frame and it was too late for the Dragonettes to make any comeback. Stone Memorial ended up winning by a final score of 61-38.
Stone’s Tessa Miller led both teams with a game-high 21 points.
Haylee Johnson led the Dragonettes with 19 points.
York’s next game will be on Jan. 2 when they take part in the Seargent York Christmas Invitational, while Stone Memorial will compete in the Lenoir City Christmas Tournament beginning on Dec. 26.
