Lady Pioneers Basketball Dominates Buckhorn

The Warren County Lady Pioneers beat Buckhorn 70 to 39 Friday afternoon in the Smoky Mountain Classic Christmas Tournament hosted by Gatlinburg-Pitman. Friday’s victory’s the first victory of the season for Warren County.

The 70 point outburst is by far the most points scored for the Lady Pioneers this season. Warren County stormed out of the gates with 24 first quarter points and they owned a 37 to 25 halftime lead.

The Lady Pioneers struggled in the third quarter but they held a 42 to 34 lead after three quarters. Warren County put an exclamation mark on their first win of the season with a 28 point outburst in the fourth.

12 Lady Pioneers scored throughout the game. Beth Vaughn scored 21 points for Warren County. Vaughn was the only Warren County player to score in double figures.

Kyra Perkins and Erica Cantrell each scored eight points. As a team Warren County hit 16 of 34 free throws and they hit six shots form behind the three point line.

The Lady Pioneers will play in the consolation bracket championship game tomorrow at 11:30 A.M.
