Lady Panthers Stay Undefeated In District With OT Win

The Lady Panthers of Stone Memorial won a hard fought overtime battle with Rhea County, by a final score of 81 to 75, Friday night in Crossville.

Stone Memorial owned a one point halftime lead at 38 to 37 but found themselves down five at the start of the fourth quarter. The Lady Panthers outscored Rhea County 15 to 10 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

Mattie Buck hit two, three point shots in overtime and as a team the Lady Panthers hit six out of seven free throws in the overtime period to pull away for the win.

Stone Memorial hit 10 shots form behind the three point line but they gave up 13 made threes to Rhea County. The Lady Panthers had a slight edge at the foul line as they connected on 15 of their 16 free throw attempts as Rhea County hit eight of their 10 tries.

Emma Capps scored a game high 24 points for Stone Memorial and Tessa Miller added 23 points of her own. Mattie Buck rounded out the double digit scorers with 15 points.

With the win Stone Memorial improves their regular season record to 21-2, and 5-0 in district play. The Lady Panthers travel to McMinnville Tuesday night, to take on Warren County.
