Lady Cavs Soccer Falls In Opener To West

The Cookeville Lady Cavs Soccer Team fell behind in the first half of their season opener against West and couldn’t mount the comeback, as they fell by a final score of 2-0.

“They were a good team, and they started off very strong in the first half,” Head Coach Lauren Metts said. “(They) scored off of a corner kick and a PK.”

Though falling behind early is never the goal, Metts says she liked the energy her team played with in the second frame.

“We started strong in the second half and kept decent control,” Metts said. “(We) just couldn’t put any in the back of the net.”

Cookeville’s next contest is on Aug. 29 when they take part in the Gatlinburg Tournament.
