Lady Cavs Set To Host Stone Memorial In Rescheduled Rematch

The Cookeville Lady Cavs will take the court on Monday night against the district-leading Stone Memorial Lady Panthers in a rematch of their Jan. 21 matchup.

In that game, Stone used their size advantage on the block with Emma Capps and Tessa Miller to take control of what was a three-point game at halftime in the second half. Capps and Miller combined for 44 points, and the Lady Panthers out-scored Cookeville 39-31 to take home the 61-50 victory.

In the rematch, that size will once again play a factor, especially with Lady Cavs sophomore sensation KK Graves retuning to action last week with a boom. She put up a team-high 18 points, albeit in a loss to White County.

Another key player in this game will be freshman Jordan Gillies, who has enjoyed a very solid rookie campaign for the Lady Cavs. This was punctuated in a big way on Jan. 17 when she put up 18 points on four made three-pointers to lead Cookeville over White County.

Since then, she’s had only one game of double-digit scoring. For the Lady Cavs to pull off a big district win, they will need her three-point shooting to balance out the paint advantage Stone possesses.

It all gets started at 6 P.M. tonight in Cookeville, when the Lady Cavs host the Lady Panthers of Stone Memorial.
