Lady Cavs Lose In Overtime Against Rhea Co

The Lady Cavalier basketball team saw a first half lead slip away, on the road against Rhea County, as they lost their second district game in overtime 74 to 69, on Tuesday night.

Cookeville took a 34 to 29 lead into halftime only to see Rhea County tie the game up at the end of regulation at 60. Rhea County outscored the Lady Cavs 14 to nine in extra time for the victory.

Cookeville lost the free throw line battle as the Lady Cavs hit 17 of their 23 attempts compared to Rhea County who hit 22 of their 33 attempts. Rhea County hit six shots from beyond the arch as the Lady Cavaliers hit only four of their attempts.

Katie Dunnaway scored a team high 13 points for Cookeville. Liv Shipman added 12 points and KK Graves scored 11 points of her own. Julie Dunaway rounded out the double digit scorers for Cookeville with 10 points.

The loss drops Cookeville’s record to 16-6, and 2-2 in district play. The Lady Cavaliers play again Friday at McMinn County.
