Lady Bulldogs Take Down Jackson Co In Celina

The Clay County girls basketball team had no hangover from their Tuesday upset over Clarkrange, as they handled the Lady Blue Devils form Jackson County by a final score of 62 to 34.

Defensively, Clay County allowed only 17 points in each half to Jackson County. The Lady Bulldogs held a 25 to 17 edge at the break and cored 37 second half points to push the lead to the final margin.

Clay County’s Briley Burchett scored a game high 15 points and Rachel Copass added 12 points of her own. Cherokee Upton dropped in 10 point to round out the double digit scorers for Clay County.

Jacklyn Agee led the Lady Blue Devils with 10 points. Agee was the only player from Jackson County to break the double digit barrier.

With the win Clay County’s record improves to 16-8 and 10-2 in district play. The Lady Bulldogs host Pickett County this Tuesday night.

The Lady Blue Devils will play Red Boiling Springs this Tuesday, as the loss drops their record to 3-18, 2-9.
