Lady Bulldogs Hold On Late For Win Over Van Buren

The Clay County Lady Bulldogs defeated the Van Buren Eaglettes on Friday by a final score of 49-47.

With the game tied at nine after the first, the Lady Bulldogs pulled ahead in the next two quarters by out-scoring Van Buren by a 27-23 margin.

The Eaglettes won the final quarter by two, but it wasn’t enough and Clay County finished their regular season out with a two-point victory.

Bailey Burchett led all scorers with 16 points, while Katie Arms scored 12. Rachel Copass added 10 points.

Layla Bouldin led the Eaglettes with 15 points.

Van Buren will play South Pittsburg in their District Tournament, while Clay will have a bye for the first round of their’s.
