Lady Buffaloes Grind Out First District Win Against Clay Co

The Clarkrange Lady Buffaloes won their first district game of the year Friday night against Clay County 71-61.

“This will be our M.O. all year,” Clarkrange head coach Lamar Rogers said. “We do play fast. We want to be sure not to get into to big of a hurry when we get on the offensive end.”

Kassie Monday, of Clarkrange, had a big night with 29 points. Monday hit 12-16 free throws. Her sister Kaylie scored 22 points.

“(The Monday’s) are two of the best players in Tennessee,” Rogers said. “They can dribble and shoot and speed kills in any sport, they just have that extra gear to them.”

Clay County’s Katie Arms scored a team high 23 points. Briley Burchett added 17 points for the Bulldogs.

Clarkrange hits the hardwood Monday night against Oneida on the road at 6 P.M. and Clay County plays Tuesday night at Gordonsville at 6 P.M. also.
