Jackson Co. Holds On Against Sale Creek

The Jackson County Blue Devils (1-1) bounced back from a loss to York Institute in week one to get a crucial victory over Sale Creek (0-2) on the road by a score of 20-18.

Junior running back Wid Robbins led the way for the Blue Devils, as he found the endzone three times for all of Jackson County’s scores. Senior Cole Parkerson made the game-winning play, although it wouldn’t be apparent until the end of the game.

After Robbins’ third touchdown of the game put them up 18-12, the Blue Devils opted to go for the two-point conversion instead of just kicking an extra point. Parkerson ran the ball in for the successful conversion, and the Blue Devil defense held its ground in the second half.

Despite giving up a score and a chance to tie the game, the defense held Sale Creek out of the end zone the rest of the way and held on for a 20-18 victory.

The Blue Devils will hit the road next week to take on Westmoreland High School in Westmoreland, Tennessee, on Sept. 6.
