Huddleston Paces First Team With 10-Strikeout Performance

Upperman Sophomore Eli Huddleston was lights out in his lone start last week against York Institute.

In a 12-1 win, Huddleston pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts and only a single unearned run allowed. To add to his success on the mound, Huddleston also hit .313 at the plate with six runs driven in over the course of the week.

This week, he leads the First Bank First Team.

First Bank First Team

Wyatt Curtis (Upperman): You can’t talk about excellent pitching performances last week without mentioning Curtis, as he no-hit Jackson County and struck out nine hitters in the process.

Jordan Key (Livingston Academy): Like Huddleston, Key was great both as a pitcher and hitter last week. She knocked five hits and drove in four runs in a dominant win over York Institute, a game that she also pitched a complete game in with eight strikeouts. She added two more hits and two more RBIs on Saturday against Clay County.

Madison Hollis (Warren County): Hollis pitched a complete-game shutout against district rival White County last Tuesday, striking out three and allowing only four hits in the process.

Ethan Haley (York Institute): Continuing the trend of excellent pitching, Haley tossed two shutout innings against Clarkrange on Saturday. Haley faced eight batters over the two innings, allowed no hits and struck out five.

Ryleigh Boyett (Cookeville): Boyett had another great week at the dish, as she started by hitting a double, triple and two home runs (nine RBIs) against Cumberland County. She then hit two more home runs against Rhea County.

Chris Hall (Cookeville): Hall’s power was also on display all week, as he started by hitting a walk-off, two-run home run to defeat Warren County. He added another blast against Pickens later in the week.

Sydney Moffitt (Livingston Academy): Moffitt aided Key’s big game against York with one of her own, as she had three hits and drove in a run against York as well. For the week, she hit .286.

Jayden Davis (Cookeville): Davis hit .615 with three home runs, two doubles and six RBIs last week over four games.
