Head Coach Wes Shanks On The Pressure This Season

After winning the state championship last year, this season Upperman is the hunted.

Last year, as good as the Bees were, they weren’t quite consistent. A loss in the district tournament, they found a way to battle back in the tourney. A loss in the region championship, but they advance anyway as the runner-up.

Then they do what every team, coach, player, and program want to do; get hot late. Rattling off five straight wins to take home a state title, now the Bees are the reigning, defending champs.

It’s a different sort of energy.

At 8-4, and more importantly 6-0 in the district, Head Coach Wes Shanks is feeling pretty good about where his team sits though. Ready to improve, but certainly already quite capable of repeating.
