Gov. Lee Announces End To Recent Restrictions On HS Athletics Attendance Policy

Tennessee State Governor Bill Lee announced on Thursday Afternoon that due to the recent decline in Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations, the recent restrictions on attendance for indoor sporting events will be suspended.

The suspension on Executive Order 74 becomes official on Monday, Feb. 1, according to the press release.

According to Lee, there has been almost a 60 percent drop in cases and a 40 percent decrease in hospitalizations, leading to the suspension of the order.

The governor says the policies laid out by the TSSAA and local education agencies regarding social distancing and mask-wearing will still remain in place.

Executive Order 74 originally stated that only game, school and facility administrators, teachers, officials, coaching and team personnel, immediate household members, media and scouting personnel where the only spectators allowed to attend indoor athletic events. Those included must also follow the guidelines of maintaining social distancing.
