Golf: Monday Recap

Monday afternoon the Jackson County golf team squared off against Gordonsville and Smith County golf teams at Southern Hills Country Club in Cookeville. Gordonsville golfer Jacob Lambert shot a 37 good enough for the low score of the day. Jackson County’s Mason Wade finished the day with a team low of 40. The Blue devils finished the day in first place with a team low of 180.

Cookeville High School played their final home match of the season Monday at Golden Eagle Country Club in Cookeville. Cookeville competed against golf teams from Livingston and Upperman. The Cavaliers shot a combined four man score of 291. Luke Caldwell shot a match low 66. Senior Ethan Vanstratum shot a 75 in his final home match as a senior.

Livingston Academy’s Bryson Fletcher shot two strokes behind Caldwell finishing the day with a 68.  The Wildcats finished second to Cookeville with a combined score of 320. Cason Mayberry led the way for the Bee’s with a 77. Upperman finished third with a four man score of 353.

Upperman Senior Juliann Johnson scored the best round of the day for the girls teams with an 80. Fellow Bee Hailey Jennings shot a 97 giving Upperman a 177 combined total. Cookeville senior Savannah Pearson fired in an 83 and teammate Daniella Pryor shot an 87. Cookeville finished with a seven stroke advantage over Upperman .The Lady Wildcats finished the day with a combined 199. Zoey Budzilek finished with a 99 and teammate Taylor Windle shot an 100.

Clay County hosted Pickett County and Clarkrange Monday afternoon at Hidden Valley Golf Course in Livingston.

Clay County’s Jeffrey Spivey shot a match low 46 leading the way for the Bulldogs. Zach Schmucker fired a 47. Wood Dodson, Aden Smith, and Caleb McLerran shot a 50, 51, and 52 respectively.

Pickett County’s duo of Jason Garrett and Blake Morel finished with scored of 53 and 60 on the afternoon. Clarkrange golfer Hunter Wells shot a team leading 51. Jon Flowers followed with a 51 and Dalton West finished with a 58.

The Lady Buffaloes Zoey Hall tied for the low score of the round with a 54. Clay County’s Kindal Roberts and Eliza Jenkins also shot 54’s. Mackenzie Pile finished out the scoring with a 55 for Clarkrange.
