Girls Basketball Region Tournaments Start Friday

Girls’ regional tournaments begin Friday across the Upper Cumberland with five teams hosting games.

In 1A, #2 seed Pickett County hosts South Pittsburg out of district five in Byrdstown. Tipoff set for 7pm Friday. If the Lady Bobcats win, they will face the winner of Whitwell and Trousdale County Monday night at Livingston Academy. In Spencer Friday, #2 seed Van Buren County will host Red Boiling Springs at 7pm. The winner advances to meet Clarkrange Monday night. The Lady Buffaloes automatically advanced to round two after Richard Hardy forfeited

The sectionals will be played March 7. 

The 2A bracket features the Upperman Lady Bees hosting Bledsoe County, the third seed from district seven Friday night. Tipoff set for Baxter at 7pm Friday. Also Friday, York Institute travels to Cumberland County. The Lady Jets enter the regional tournament as the number one seed from district seven. The Lady Dragons will represent district eight as the fourth seed. Number three seed Dekalb County will travel to Sequatchie County Friday night, the number two seed in district seven. 

If the Bees advance, they would face the Cumberland/York winner on Monday night at Tennessee Tech. Tipoff set for 6pm. The Lady Tigers would play the winner of Macon County/Marion County Monday night at 7:30pm. 

White County enters the 3A bracket as the number one seed in district six. The Lady Warriors will face McMinn County, the fourth seed, Friday night at 7pm in Sparta. With a win, White County would face the winner of East Hamilton/Stone Memorial in Sparta Monday night. The Lady Panthers enter the tournament as the third seed from district six and will hit the road to Chattanooga Friday night.

Cookeville, the number four seed, will travel to Bradley Central, the top seed from district five, Friday night. Gametime set for 7pm eastern. The Cavaliers would face the winner of Rhea County/Cleveland Monday night if they advance.
